On call by the IMA HQ, all the members of Hoshiarpur IMA went on a strike paralysing health services on 6th June 2017 from 8.00 am to 2 00 pm. More than 100 members assembled in Green View Park  from where they proceeded to DC office where a meorandum was presented to the DC. On the way, the members shoulted slogans and held rallies which were addressed by DR. Kuldip Singh Past State President, Dr. Sardool Singh From PCMS, Dr. Prem from Mukerian and host of other doctors. All of them lamented the step motherly treatment being meted out to them by the authorities. They showed concerns about increasing incidences of violence against the doctors and demanded proper security. Here it will be pertinent to mention that the gates of the Mini secretariate where DC office is located were closed when the doctors reached there and the doctors unwillingly had to block the road causing disruption of the traffic. After that the doctors were allowed to enter the secretariate. The DC Hoshiarpur received a delegation of about 10 doctors and accepted the memorandun highlighting the demands which included Security of the doctors and proper implementation of Medicare Protection Act 2008; Clerical errors in PC PNDT Act not to be equated with Sex determination test; ; capping of compensation awards in case of negligence; Amendment of MCI Act while saying No to the new commission being set up and No to crosspathy etc.
The DC assured the delegation that their demans will be forwarded to the authorities concerned but for Hoshiarpur, he , on the suggestion of Dr Kuldip Singh , agreed to set up a committee of DC, SSP , Civil surgeon Hoshiarpur and representative from IMA to enforce Medicare Protection Act.
