Dr. Rajinder Sharma takes over as State President: 
                   It was a moment of great pride and honour for IMA Hoshiarpur when in a glittering ceremony held in Ferozepur on Sunday, 12th February 2017, Our Dr. Rajinder Sharma took over the reins of Presidentship of State IMA during the annual PIMACON. His taking over was greeted by more than 400 people with big applause. Dr Rajinder Sharma, as you know, is an active and humble worker of IMA since more than two decades. He has worked tirelessly for the cause of IMA in various capacities, as Secretary IMA Legal cell, Chairman Constitution review committee and Vice President on IMA Punjab before taking this assignment.  
In his presidential address, Dr. Sharma sought the active participation of all the members for the betterment of the fraternity. Immediately after taking the charge, he highlighted the problem of attack on doctors and requested the DGP Punjab, Law & Order Mr. HS Dhillon, who was the Chief guest , to effectively implement the Medicare Protection Act 2008. Dr. Sharma lamented that in spite of 8 years of existence of the act, the police is not sensitized to it. Mr. Dhillon assured that he will pass orders for the effective implementation of this act which can deter the antisocial elements in attacking the doctors or damaging the property of the hospitals. To quantify the punishment depending upon the severity in PCPNDT Act is next on the mind of Dr. Sharma. He promised to take up the matter with the authorities concerned but warned that IMA will not stand by anyone indulging in sex selected scans. I am sure, Dr. Sharma, with his great vision and dedication, will take the IMA to newer heights. Once again Congratulations Sir.
Dr. Naresh Sud appointed State Finance Secretary for 2017.
Dr. Rajinder Sharma , state President has appointed our past president Dr. Naresh Sud as State finance Secretary for the year 2017. Congratulations Dr. Naresh.
Dr. Keshav Sud appointed Assistant State Secretary:
Dr. Rajinder Sharma , State President has appointed our President Dr. Keshav Sud as Asstt. State Secretary for the year 2017.  Dr. Sud will practically be handling all the secretariat work. Congratulations Dr. Keshav Sud.
To involve maximum  number of members in the work of IMA, Dr. Rajinder Sharma has appointed many members of local IMA as Chairmen and members of various committees. Congratulations to all of them.




Most of the demands of IMA met:
I am happy to inform the house that the inter-ministerial committee which was made last year on threat of Satyagrah by IMA Headquarters has accepted most of the demands made by the IMA. Dr. Rajinder Sharma, our State President will inform the house about it later in the evening.
 Daily TB Treatment Schedule Ordered for India
 The Supreme Court of India delivered a historic judgment (on DOTS), which will affect the fate of ailing millions - 25% of globe’s TB patients, by ordering that Govt. of India shall switch over to Daily Dose protocol as soon as possible. In any condition, no Indian shall be placed on “Thrice weekly dose” of anti-TB drugs after 9 months from that day. This transformational order has been brought on through a petition by Dr. Raman Kakkar, life-member IMA. I may mention here that Dr Kakkar himself argued the case before the bench headed by the Chief justice and convinced the court  beyond doubt that alternate day regime was ineffective that.  Our Dr. Satish Aggarwal is also of the same view and you can recall that he had vehementely opposed this during a lecture on RNTCP.   Let us take this opportunity to applaud the efforts of Dr Kakar and likes in taking such bold steps in face of significant odds for the good of the country.
